Program Area Directors

Program Area Directors lead teaching and recreational programming as well as insure the safety of their given program or responsibility area. The nature of these areas demand that all safety considerations and procedures be followed and maintained. Program Area Directors may have several additional staff members under their direct supervision. Program Area Directors will insure that all campers have a proper learning experience and that goals are met that challenge the individual. Program Area Directors will usually not have sectional camper duties, but are expected to participate in any "All-Camp" activities. Program Area Directors must possess proper certification and qualified experience in their specific area.

SENIOR STAFF
SKILL AREA INSTRUCTOR
(19 positions)

 

SKILL AREA INSTRUCTOR responsibilities are two-fold. The primary responsibility of this position is in a program area. The Senior staff member is generally in charge of a given instructional program area. Duties include supervision, development, teaching and maintaining their particular program area such that all campers have a proper learning experience and that goals are met that challenge the individual. The secondary priority is to a specific living section of campers. Duties include assisting in the general day-to-day care and supervision of the campers. This will include, but not be limited to, living in the sections, meals, guidance, and assuring that each campers' stay is enjoyable, safe and provides some kind of personal growth. Assisting the senior staff in their responsibilities will be several teenage Jr. Staff volunteers. Jr. Staff members will be under the direct supervision of the senior staff member. The senior staff role is that of a mentor; teaching both skills and responsibility to the Jr. Staff as they pass through the hands-on training program. Program areas include:

SENIOR STAFF
SECTION COUNSELOR/SKILL ASSISTANT
(15 positions)

SECTION COUNSELOR/SKILL ASSISTANT responsibilities are two-fold. The first priority is to a specific living section of campers. Duties include the general day-to-day care and supervision of the campers. This will include, but not be limited to, living in the sections, meals, guidance, and assuring that each campers' stay is enjoyable, safe and provides some kind of personal growth. The second phase of responsibility is in a program area. This staff member will provide assistance to a skill instructor in a given skill area. Duties include assisting in supervision, development, teaching and maintaining of the particular program area. Assisting the senior staff in their responsibilities will be several teenage Jr. Staff volunteers. Jr. Staff members will be under the direct supervision of the senior staff member. Summer staff employment agreements vary in length from 10.5 to 15 weeks depending on position. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR  SENIOR STAFF MEMBER
· High school graduate or equivalent
· No disqualifying criminal record
· Willingness to acquire a physical exam (state code requirement)
· Excellent job and personal references
· A desire to work with children
· A mature and responsible attitude
· Loads of enthusiasm
· A positive demeanor and presence
· A willingness to learn
· A willingness to accept random drug testing
 Each senior staff member will attend a minimum of 10 days of staff training
